Our Mid-Life Crisis Through Europe

The Land of Mustard

We decided to pick a small city in France so that we could relax/recover from our time in Italy.  We also thought it would be interesting to explore what a small city is like in France, so we decided on Dijon.

This mustard was awesome - it has basil leaves in  it.

We spent 3 days in Dijon exploring the city, trying the mustard (and we did not see any Grey Poupon) and relaxed.  Unfortunately, my poor husband came down with a horrible stomach virus on our way from Florence, so he stayed in the hotel most days.  My mother and I ventured out to see what there was to see.

During that time, we (mom and I) visited the palace, saw many, many churches and ate the most awesome pastries ever (sorry Luke).

So we saw a bunch of people standing in line for a tour and I spoke with a woman in broken French/English and found out that this was their free museum day and this (free) tour was for the tower.  Awesome, right?!  Except, no one mentioned that you climbed the spiral staircase of doom to get to the top.  It was over 300 steps (one way - you also had to climb them down); my mother counted every single step, but she did it though!

At the top were the most amazing views of the city.  Well worth the climb.

Once we were well rested and Luke was on the road the recovery, we hopped on the train to Paris.
